Bumble & Bumble Sumoclay wins the prize for the most requested product I use. I even keep a picture of it in a special album on my phone for easy sharing. You can buy it from your local Sephora store, but it’s just as easy to get it from Amazon. A Prime account means free shipping and speedy delivery.

It’s the perfect concoction to sculpt my hair into place. And that’s a feat! I have thick hair and lots of it. My hairdresser must thin it to tame it, otherwise I’m weighed down and frumpy. But, this product is light enough for most hair types.

It’s clay-like so I just swipe a heathy dab from the container with my fingers and rub it briskly between my hands. Then I use the palm of my hands to lift my hair in the back, from the back of my ears out and up, and then scrunch the hair on top of my head, careful not to add to much. I’m also careful to work just the areas of hair I want to lift or separate. Next, I pick and poke at it like Edward Scissorhands to make it sassy, a bit wayward,  and just spiked enough to make it interesting. I finish the process by piecing my bangs and sideburns here and there. The key is to push and pull your hair to what looks great on you. And to make it messy, sassy.

The whole process takes only a minute because the objective isn’t perfection, it’s imperfection.

I finish with a light spray of TRESemme hairspray #4 and I am set for the day.

PS – I used to use Interrupt Texturizing Clay – alas, it is no longer available. After trying many, many products, I found SumoClay. I absolutely love it!
